The Premier League kicks off again after the international break for the match day 4 from Saturday, 14th September, 2024. The match day 4 hands us a super Sunday fixture, the North London derby, as Arsenal will travel to Tottenham Hotspur to meet their fellow Londoners on Sunday, 15th September, 2024.

Tottenham has taken such a renewed and attacking shape since the takeover of Ange Postecoglou, going head to head with the opposition, not minding who the opposition may be. The new season have not favoured their ideas, unlike last season. By this time last season, they were at the top of the table, bringing down the mighty, facing, and beating teams ruthlessly.

However, their season was turned on its head with the injury of James Maddison on the 10th of November 2023. Prior to his injury, they enjoyed an unbeaten run in the Premier League, beating Manchester United 2-0, drawing with Arsenal 2-2 and so on. On 6th November, they lost to Chelsea 4-1, and from then on, they lost 3 straight matches, drew one, and lost one again before they returned to winning ways on 10th December. Be that as it may, they had a very brilliant start to the 2023/24 season. However, things seemed to be slightly different this season as they have not started this season like they did last season. They started the season with a 1-1 draw against Leicester, the newly promoted one-time Premier League winners. They went to win Everton 4 goals to nil and when all had thought they have gotten their footing to kick off the new season they went 2-1 down against Newcastle at St James’ Park (Newcastle) away from home. The international break is over and players back to their different clubs with renewed energy to continue from where they stopped at club level, Tottenham will have reinstitution of consistency and attack minded football which was their hallmark last season into this team in the new season. With the season still young, they have lots of expectation for themselves and from the fans which they are to live up to and following what they were able to achieve last season. They will hope to get back to winning ways in the new season with their match against Arsenal in the North London derby. In the reverse fixture last season, they were able to go toe to toe with Arsenal despite Arsenal’s fierce attacking reputation over the last few seasons and here they are again this season with Arsenal at their door. They will be looking to make the best out of this fixture with lots of confidence coming from what they were able to do in this fixture last season. Though not in the same brilliant form as they were last season, they will hope to get themselves back to winning ways. They have only Dominic Solenke and Richarlison to worry about with regards to this tie. While Richarlison remains sidelined due to injury, Solenke may miss the match as well as part of the precautionary measure as the Ange remarked as they will be having a fixture packed period after the international break. However, Micky van de Ven will be available. He started the first two matches of the season and only missed the defeat to against Newcastle United before the international break as he was deemed not fit enough by Ange and he missed the Nations league as well as precautionary action. Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to field his best available as they face Arsenal in the North London derby with the hope of getting back to winning ways.

Arsenal as have been characteristic of them for the past two/three years, started the season in a very strong fashion, and among the teams yet to lose a match in the just begun 2024/25 season. Arsenal will be looking to triumph over Ange and his men in front of the home fans when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They started the season brightly, beating Wolves 2-0 on their first game of the season. They beat Aston Villa 2-0 to return the favour of last season. Their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa last season took them off the track and ensured they lost the Premier League title to Manchester City. However, their 1-1 draw to Brighton before the international break seems to have slowed them down and they will be willing to hit the ground running and return to winning ways with their visit to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. They will have a lot to worry about as some of their starting XI may not be available ahead of this tie. Declan Rice was sent off against Brighton in what was considered one of the most controversial red cards as he received a second yellow after he delayed to restart the game. Merino completed his move to the North London side in the final week of the transfer window however, things have not gone exactly as planned as he sustained a shoulder injury in his first training session with the Gunners after a collision with Gabriel. The Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus is still a doubt for this tie after he missed the clash against Aston Villa and Brighton due to injury. Arsenal have since the start of the season have been without Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney, and they are also a doubt for this clash. One of the biggest blows for Arsenal came on Monday night after Martin Odegaard suffered a sprained ankle against Austria. Calafiori, as well, had a show down after his clash with the Frenchman Dembele on Friday and received a calf treatment before he was subbed off. He has returned to London for further examination. Arteta may be forced to draw Kia Hervertz to the midfield role given the situation of things in the midfield position. Sterling will be hoping to make his debut for his new club Arsenal this weekend following the ineffectiveness of Martinelli so far this season, with Trossard being more effective on that left wing position off the bench. These notwithstanding, Arsenal are still hopeful of getting back to winning ways after their draw with Brighton, and their fans will wish nothing but a win in the first North London derby away from home.

Both North Londoners have met themselves 182 times in all competitions. 73 times, Arsenal have triumphed in this tie, and 57 times, the Spurs had their heads high after the final whistle, and 53 times, it ended all squared. Of the 174 Premier League matches, the Gunners have won 71 while the Spurs won 55, and 48 times they had to share the points amongst themselves. Arsenal are miles ahead in this tie and are not ready to let their guards down, while Ange will be willing to make an impression in this tie as he is yet to triumph over Arteta and his men. 535 goals have been scored in this tie, highlighting its entertaining role, and again, Arsenal is in the front line of this entertainment as they have scored 283 goals while Tottenham have scored 252 goals. This tie last failed to produce at least a goal on 9th February 2009. Everyone looks up to this tie as it holds a lot of passion, rivalry, and entertainment for the fans. Do not miss this awesome show of character.
