The match day 2 of Italian Serie A will see Torino welcome Atalanta one of the best in the league to Stadio Olimpico di Torino (Turin) on Sunday 25th August 2024. After a ravaging start in the opening league match, Atalanta is set to meet with Torino at home, a venue where they were did a very big blow last season. As they return to this venue, they hope to put up a performance better than what they were able to do here last season.

Torino had a fair share of good performances last season though it was not a dream season for them, they had lots of ups and down, they had little or no stability and consistency in their performance last season. Torino finished 9th with 53 points after 38 matches last season. They had 0 goal difference as they conceded the exact amount of goals they were able to score (36).

Winning 13 games, drawing 14games and losing 11games spells out their level of inconsistency last season, drawing more matches than they won, and it is not a good season’s outing for an ambitious team like Torino. They have started off the season slow, though one say as they were expected to start off the season in style and with highhandedness and not the way they did. Considering the opponent set before them, one would have thought they would loss the match but going 2goals up in the first half and losing the lead in the second half is not a good and strong way to start the season. They appear to have not solved their defensive problems over the cause of the summer transfer window. However, it is surprising as most of their signings in the ongoing transfer window are defenders and goalkeepers. There is hope, however, that they will arrest their defensive and attacking problem as their exploits in the transfer windows show they know where to focus. They have employed the services of centre backs Saúl Coco, Adam Masina, left back Borna Sosa, goalkeepers Antonio Donnarumma, Alberto Paleari and centre forwards Duván Zapata and Ché Adams all geared towards producing a team that can perform at the topmost level in any competition they find themselves. The fans will be expecting more from this team than what they did last season following what they have been able to achieve in the summer transfer window.

Atalanta had a ravaging start to the 2024\25 season after a 4-0 win over Lecce in the opening fixture which is the highest any team managed to score in the opening fixture over the weekend in the Europe top five league with only Brighton coming close after beating Everton 3-0. Atlanta had a good season last year, finishing 4th with 69 points, just 2 points off Juventus, who finished 3rd with 71 points. Atalanta had a lot of positives last season as they finished off the Europa League as champions beating the invisible Bayer Leverkusen in the finals. They seem to have shaved off the UEFA Super Cup 2-0 loss to Real Madrid following the very loud way they started the season and with the successes of last season, they will definitely be aiming higher this season. With Champions League football in the bag, they would like to build momentum and have some good run in the league ahead of the Champions League football. However, Atalanta will be up against a team in a venue where they had nothing to show for the performance. Even though they returned the favour in the reverse fixture last season to beat Torino 3-0 at home too, they will be keen to take this to the next level as they eye a 100% win over Torino this season and that journey of a thousand mile begins with this match with Torino at home. It will definitely be a difficult height to achieve, judging from the way Torino played AC Milan in the opening fixture, how they attacked and defended in that game. That notwithstanding, Atalanta are not going back on their decision to win every point there is to win this season. Atalanta has been very active in the ongoing transfer window, getting in the talents they need to have an amazing season up front. They have added the likes of Lazar Samardžić central midfield, Marco Brescianini central midfield, Nicolò Zaniolo attacking midfield, Ibrahim Sulemana defensive midfield, Ben Godfrey centre back, Raoul Bellanova right back, Mateo Retegui centre forward and Charles De Ketelaere attacking midfield. A lot will be expected from this Atalanta team following the massive upgrade they have had to the team that won them trophy last season.

The match between these two teams has met each other a couple of times (46). In those meetings, Torino won 14 matches while Atalanta won 19 matches and 13 matches ended draw. The match between these two has always been a very cagey but entertaining one as it is only on two occasions the match between them ended 0-0 draw. A total of a total of 135goals have been scored by both teams in this tie with Torino scoring 62 goals and Atalanta scoring 73 goals. Atalanta seem to have an upper hand in this tie, but last season’s experience has a lot of lessons for them that will rather get the job done than relying on statistics. Be that as it may, both teams are ready to take their own destiny into their hands as they go into this tie.

Do not miss this entertaining tie as both team lock horns again in the Serie A fixtures for the 2024\25 season. Do not miss this loggerhead between Torino and Atalanta!!!
