The Spanish Laliga gets underway in the next 7days with lots of positivity and expectations. A lot of teams have been very active in the ongoing transfer window making an unwavering effort towards having a team more enhanced than the one they had last season. Bearing in the mind the strings Girona pulled last season, one would ask, will they perfect what they did last season? Will they start the season on strong note like they did last season? Will they fail? Will Real Madrid lose any match or fail to score in any of their Laliga matches this season, following the signing of Mbappe and Endrick in the attacking department? Will Flick make the expected impression on Barcelona or will he fail?

Some teams have attracted attentions and expectations owing to the amazing transfers they have pulled through or they hope to complete before the end of the window ahead of the season for the good of the team. These teams rank amongst the teams with the most expectations in the Spanish Laliga this coming season and they include: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Girona.

Real Madrid finished last season as Laliga Champions without a starting no 9. They with the help of Jude Bellingham who was often used as a false 9, a technique with which they won the Champions League, La liga and Spanish Super Cup. They have ahead of the coming season secured the signature of Kylian Mbappe, one of the most promising player in football currently. The France international and former PSG attacker made his way to his dream club at the end of last season as a free agent after refusing to renew his contract with the French side. Getting a player in the caliber of Mbappe is somewhat impossible but Real Madrid pulling that deal is ridiculous. However, we shall not rule out the fact that Mbappe’s move from PSG to Real Madrid has lingered for years. Mbappe finished the 2023/24 as the player of the season in League 1 and the golden boot winner amidst other individual awards. Real Madrid also signed the Brazilian youngster Endrick from Palmeiras to Real Madrid for £35m. With the introduction of these two to the already terrifying Real Madrid forward of Vinicius Jnr, Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham, there are loads of expectation as to what Ancelotti will achieve with the addition of these into his team.

Barcelona had a somewhat not beautiful outing last season, ending the season without a trophy. The 2023/24 also saw the end of the Barcelona legend Xavi as the head coach of Barcelona. The exit of Xavi brought about the entrance of Hensi Flick, the former Bayern Munich manager, known for his renowned success in managing teams. His tenure at Bayern Munich was a huge success as it witnessed winning games with high margin and trophies to show for it. In his days at Bayern in 2019, he won the Champions League and completed the club’s continental treble. His reunion with Lewandowsky will send a cozy chill of expectation down the spins of Barcelona fans, as they will remember that 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and will expect to have such performance with their team, as the mastermind behind that exhilarating performance is now their head coach. With Yamal at a very high level following his grand performance at the Euros, the Catalonian side will be expecting more from the youngster this season as they also expect to land Nico Williams at the club too.

Atletico Madrid seems to be one of the most ambitious club in Laliga for the coming season, as they are targeting almost a team over hurl with some bright talent in sight. They have been in the market for the signature of some players as they hope to strengthen their squad to compete more adequately for titles next season at home and abroad. They have most recently received the green light from the England international and Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher and they are at the verge of striking a deal with Manchester City for Julain Alvares. Alvares has shown what he can do with his time at Manchester City, his addition into this team will be a very big injection of power and pace into the attack of a team that has over the years been defensively alert. His versatility upfront will be a big plus to this team as well. With these signing in sight, the fans are all eager to have these deals completed and season to hit the ground running.

Sevilla had what could be regarded as one of their worst seasons in recent times last season with a finish 13th position after 38league games which was one of their worst finish positions since getting promoted to the La liga in 2000/01 season. They managed to win 10, drew 11 and lost 17 last season. They were knocked out of Champions league in the group stage without winning a single match of the group stage and could not make it to the Europa last season. They had such a poor first half of the season that they had to sack two coaches before January. Scoring goals and defending remained one of their main problems last season as they finished the season with -6 goals and they have set out to settle this issue. They have secured the signature of the Nigerian international and one time Premier League winner, FA Cup winner and FA Community Shield winner Kelechi Iheancho as a free agent. The striker will inject a lot of experience to this team that desperately needs a leader upfront. They will be looking to have an improved performance this coming season.

Girona had such a fantastic first half of the season, pulling the impossible with only Real Madrid as the only team they couldn’t bend as they lost to them on both meetings. Losing to Real Madrid on the second leg turned their season around as it not only dashed their Laliga dreams but it plunged them into despair and which saw them finish 3rd, just 3points behind Barcelona. However, they have a Champions League football as a consolation and a pledge of a better performance as they go into this season. They have so far completed some nice signings that can take the club to another level. They have completed a total of 12transfers so far this season with the hope of being more ardent for the Champions League football they have next season. The Fans will have a lot of high hopes on them owing to the remarkable additions they have made to the team and the height they were able to achieve last season. Much is expected of them not excluding starting the season on a front foot like they did last season.

With the start of the season in sight, the fans would expect the club to wrap up their transfer deals and be more ready for the season that gets under way in the next 7days.

Let the countdown begin!!!
